Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Festival 2010 - Santa Cruz

A few weeks back, I went to the Clam Chowder Cook-Off on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. An $8 tasting kit came with a spoon, a little cup, and 5 tickets to taste 5 different chowders. We bought two kits and tasted 10 chowders between the both of us. But clam chowder isn't enough for lunch so we also got:

A donut the size of my face

$3 roasted corn which I ruined by sprinkling on too much salt

$6 garlic fries that are better than the Oracle Arena garlic fries

And then of course, there were many Clam chowders to taste. Did you know there's a Manhattan Clam Chowder that's made with a tomato base? I liked it as a tomato soup but as a chowder, its kinda weird. Anyway, enjoy this slide show set to the official Clam Chowder Cook-Off theme song.
