Thanks to all who entered the contest. Hopefully I can give away more things in the future.
So I partnered with IKEA East Palo Alto to launch my Youtube channel, but videos like the one below are much more fun to make. Our crew needed to practice before recording with IKEA, which was the perfect opportunity for me to tell this story.
My coworker has lived one month at a time between Shanghai and Silicon Valley over the past 1.5 years. As you can imagine, this makes it hard to meet new people let alone settle in to a group of friends. Loneliness can mean being around others without feeling a connection. In telling his story, I realized I was telling my own. The Silicon Valley can be a very lonely place with its endless opportunities and driven individuals working ourselves tirelessly. An abundance of inspiration and energy in our minds and emptiness in our hearts.
I challenged myself to "write" a story with no script and challenged ACManiac123 and MBod to film, direct, and edit a video with no dialogue and no facial expressions. Together we sat in the after hours at a coffee shop, dreaming of wordless scenes that could convey the emptiness with which a Silicon Valley employee had resided himself. I hope you enjoy this video. We are just a bunch of kids having fun with cameras.
