Inspired by Bon Chon's soy garlic chicken wings, I decided to attempt them myself. Instead of double frying them for the crispy skin, I wanted to make it healthier and broiled them instead.
First I marinated a tray of chicken wings, about $4 worth, in sugar, soy sauce, and chopped garlic. The marinate sat overnight and I periodically turned the wings so the marinade would absorb from both sides.
Using Olay's and Gordon Ramsay's tips for making chicken breasts, I browned the wings on a skillet on both sides for about 2 minutes each before finishing them in the oven. Now I'm told that wings are so small, they don't need to be browned first. Oh well...
5 minutes on each side in the oven at 400 degrees and they're done. You can leave it in for as long as you think it takes. These wings were quite yummy and flavorful. The overnight marinade really absorbed through. I only regret cooking the skins for too long but that's a lesson learned for next time. Definitely making these again. Yay for success!
Mmmm... Looks Good!!!
